Helene Witcher has written a very direct, personal and moving biography of her aunt, Heloise Russell-Fergusson. Including family photographs and anecdotes as well as excerpts and accounts of concert programmes and publicity materials, this book covers all of Heloise's life, both personal and professional. Heloise was a musician especially noted for her playing on the clarsach; the book includes information on her recordings, concerts, and photos of her Clarke lever harp and also of her Dolmetsch wire-strung clarsach, made for her as “the first of its kind” in 1932.

This book is an important addition to Scottish harp history but is also a very moving and powerful narrative of one woman’s life. I can’t recommend it enough!
