The Lament for the Bishop of Argyll, from Daniel Dow’s book, A Collection of Ancient Scots Music, published in 1776. I am guessing perhaps a 16th century date for this composition. There is a second Lament for the Bishop of Argyll in the Macfarlane-Young manuscripts, and I played this for my first CD, Clàrsach na Bànrighe.
Dow’s ceol mor style variations are very nice but they provide a base to leave from, to create a more harp-suited set.
