Davy Patton harp no.9: Queen Mary replica.

FOR SALE (Jan 2016)

This harp was completed by Davy Patton in February 2009. It is is a decorated replica of the Queen Mary harp. It is numbered #9 and is illustrated on Davy's website.

This harp has a one-piece willow soundbox with burned decoration. The neck is sycamore, also with burned lines and circles. The forepillar is lime, and is finely engraved and carved all over, and coloured with black ink and red paint to copy the carved and painted decoration of the original. The back panel is yew and also has burned lines and circles copying the original.

This harp has 8 gold bass strings, 8 silver mid-range strings and 13 brass wire treble strings: 29 in total, going down to G an octave and a half below middle c, and including na comhluighe or the sister strings. I fitted these strings to this harp here in St Andrews in July 2009; this is a very high quality harp with really excellent decorative carving.
